Actor John Turturro has a son named Amedeo, who is a Senior Associate Editor (Art Director/Project Manager) at DC Comics. He has worked on many of DC’s most popular comic books including Batman: Three Jokers, Doomsday Clock and Hill House Comics.

John Turturro also stars as Carmine Falcone in Matt Reeves’ latest Batman movie. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he shared a bit about his process of creating Falcone.

Actor

Amedeo turturro began his acting career as an extra in Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull (1980). He subsequently appeared in the Coen Brothers’ Miller’s Crossing and Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing.

As a result, the Yale Drama School graduate’s character portrayals in these films–including his ultra-creepy Italian racist in “Do the Right Thing” and a Jewish character in “Miller’s Crossing”–made him a coveted go-to man for volatile, complex characters.

John Turturro has since been a frequent cast member in the oeuvre of filmmakers Woody Allen, Spike Lee and the Coen brothers. He made his directorial debut in October 2011, with the Broadway play Relatively Speaking.

Aside from his acting, he is also an art director and comic book writer. He currently works as the Senior Associate Editor for DC Comics. He has written numerous comics for DC’s popular Batman series, among others.

He has been married to Katherine Borowitz since 1985. They have two children, Diego and Amedeo. They live in Park Slope, Brooklyn. They are devout Christians and follow Catholicism.

Having been a fan of comics since her father, actor John Turturro, was a child, Amedeo has worked as an assistant editor and art director. She has also written some of the more esoteric titles on the company’s bookshelf. In the comic book world, her accolades include writing Booster Gold, Batman and Robin, and Superman’s pal, Swamp Thing. A recent promotion to Senior Associate Editor has her at the helm of the company’s most high-profile series, the DC Comics X-men and its offshoots. A proud member of the DC fan club, she can’t resist a good old-fashioned superhero brawl. On a more personal level, she enjoys spending time with her kitty, nipping to Starbucks on the way home, and sifting through an eclectic collection of old and new books.

A former actress who appeared in The Royal Tenenbaums in 2001 and small roles in Romance & Cigarettes and Illuminata, she started her radio career as an intern for INK, a digital comics magazine, before joining DC Comics full-time.

A talented actor and director, Turturro has a wide range of filmography. He’s been in Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing, Martin Scorsese’s The Color of Money and Robert Redford’s Quiz Show, as well as Ethan Coen’s Miller’s Crossing and The Big Lebowski, a role that earned him a Best Actor award at Cannes.

An Italian-American by choice and family background, Turturro has a strong bond with the country. He enjoys the ties that he has with his motherland, and has been to Italy numerous times to strengthen this bond. On one occasion, he was invited to a village feast in Giovinazzo, a coastal town just 15 km from Bari. His wife Katherine Borowitz and son Amedeo were also there.
