Juliane Koepcke was born in Lima, Peru on October 10, 1954. She is a German-Peruvian mammalogist and zoologist, and her career has earned her a net worth of around $5 million.

Koepcke is an acclaimed zoologist and a member of the Peruvian mammalogy and bat research communities. As a child, she lived on a jungle research station with her parents. Her father, a famous zoologist, taught her survival skills. After the death of her father, she took over as Panguana.

Koepcke began to study zoology at the University of Kiel and later returned to Peru to study mammalogy. However, she survived, albeit with injuries. Among the dead were three women who were still strapped into their seats. The survivors were picked up by a group of Peruvian lumberjacks, who brought them to a nearby town. There, they were buried two feet deep. Although she suffered from concussion, the plane crash did not break her spirit. Instead, she learned to survive, and her parents continued to instill in her the importance of the ‘green’ world.

When Juliane Koepcke was 17 years old, she flew on a LANSA Flight 508 on Christmas Eve 1971. On December 24, the plane crashed into the Peruvian rainforest. It had been struck by lightning, and the plane had disintegrated in midair. This left Koepcke alone in the jungle for eleven days. Throughout the time, she suffered a broken collarbone and large gashes on both arms and legs. Nevertheless, she managed to survive, and after several months, she was released from the hospital and helped with the recovery of the crash victims.

Koepcke later worked as a library director at the Bavarian State Collection of Zoology in Munich. Her research on bats was a focus of her studies. However, she also worked as a custodian for the institution. Koepcke was a member of the International Bat Society, which led to her being awarded a grant to travel to South America to do further research on the mammals of the Amazon rainforest.

Koepcke has since retired as a deputy director of the Bavarian State Collection of Zoology. Though she has not disclosed her actual salary.
